Worst Internet Ad

There continue to be some real weiner ads on Yahoo.

The first was the ad for some credit company that used the silhouette of a guy in a suit dancing around celebrating great credit.

Now Yahoo is running a not at all attractive ad for TriClear acne medication. It wouldn't be so bad if you could hit refresh and make another ad appear, but apparently TriClear is either paying Yahoo a lot of money for a constant presence, or no other advertiser but TriClear will do business with Yahoo, because this ad will not go away.

To see what I am talking about, simply click on this link.

You'll know you're there when you see at the top of the ad, a teaser that says 'Better than Proactive?'

Below that you will see a picture of a poor chap's chin with a couple of three or four zits on it.

The chin is so prominent, it may be a photo of a real person that exists solely as a chin.

It's not that I'm trying to perpetuate the social stigma associated with acne. In fact I had bad acne growing up, and as a freshman in a West Texas college I was given Accutane, which caused such severe chapped lips that my lips split into two parts. This was difficult to manage since I was also a trombone major, and a good set of lips is important for effective playing.

As you look at the ad, a line (perhaps an application of TriClear?) goes across the picture of the chin, and the picture is miraculously replaced by the same chin, zit free.

Somebody in the TriClear Advertising Department must have thought that a single demonstration wouldn't convey the idea that TriClear eliminates zits.

So instead of the demonstration of the chin going from pimples to clear just one time, it keeps repeating, over and over and over and over again, ad infinitum.

Apparently, TriClear promises to clean your zits away, but then the very same zits will continue to immediately appear, but will go away again as long as you're willing to keep purchasing and applying Triclear.

If that isn't progress I don't know what is.

Maybe they will make food that will not cause viewers to be nauseated while sitting in front of the internet seeing their ad.

I agree Brian. These triclear ads have have digusted and nauseated me beyond words. Apparently CNN also has the same ad! Even hotmail has it! I've stopped going to CNN, Hotmail and Yahoo news due to these repulsive nauseating ads! I mean what idiot thought of this!

Thanks for your comment Hammond. Are you an organist too?

I've had a lot of drive bys on my blog regarding this ad.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully the internet won't turn into a chin....

You are both idiots... it is an advertisement. Simple to the point and perhaps to someone who has acne it strikes a familar chord... why dont you try getting off the internet for a few hours a day and getting some fresh air... i am sure you will think of lots of more important things to bitch about than an acne ad that is obviously getting the job the done (you are talking about it arent you)
What state do you live in? What is your address? i am cool with cruising to your house and showing how to turn off your computer and showing you the front door where the real world is... or you could stay on your computer and bitch about online advertising....
(my time you have wasted 5 mins)

Solid point Matt. I have a feeling there are a lot better things to discuss.

Just think what an outstanding organist Brian would be without Accutane. Now he's stuck behind his computer trying to get Hammond to play is trombone.

p.s.
My little girl has acne and I just ordered TriClear for her. If this stuff works then God bless them. I probably would have never seen it if it wasn't so noticeable.

Hey, look everybody, my first complaints!

TWO people thought this article was important enough to get riled up about at make some nasty comments!

I have definitely graduated. Thanks!

I'm sure the product is fine. I just don't like the ads. They seemed to have disappeared in the last few weeks, so maybe someone is listening.

Keep your chin up!
