Happy Birthday to Me, an XK3 and Jewish Rappers

Yesterday was my birthday, and it was also
http://c3hamby.blogspot.com/2006/02/black-history-month-jimmy-mcgriff.html Jimmy McGriff's birthday.

I took the day off.

I got rid of my large Hammond organ and got the new smaller http://hammond-organ.com/Products/XK3.htm Hammond XK3 Anniversary Edition .

It was a good day.

I still have another 1960s Hammond C3, so I'm still good.

Regarding the Jewish rapper, Matisyahu that Beverly recently told me about, according to my new Jewish friends at CAA on the Dell Jewish Community Area, he has been to Austin to perform at Stubb's several times.

The gigs, by the way, went well.

The band was well received, I played with Rick Connell, who is an alumni of the famed North Texas 1:00 lab band.

After getting into bed at 1:00 AM, I woke up again a mere 6 hours later to go play at Gateway Community Church's new building.

Pretty nice stuff, got to play with Austin's understated mild mannered guitar maniac Brad Schultz.

Brad has played with many Austin mystics, including the late Dan Del Santos, and currently, Blue Mist.

Then I slept for the rest of the day.

Of course the cleaning has taken a back door this weekend, so we're going to be moving in that direction again....
