Democrats VS Republicans

Essentially, really, all the elections have accomplished is throwing a wrench in the Republican-controlled Congress.

Which is really a big deal, and that's why the Democrats have been so excited about the most recent events.

The thing is, it's not really the Democrats that won, it's that the Republicans lost.

Amercians have clearly stated in this election that they aren't happy with the way the war is going in Iraq, and clearly desire a change in the way the war is being run. With Rumsfield at the helm and continuing with his 'full speed ahead' plans(quoted the week of elections)Americans are looking for the willingness to do something different than stay the course.

I voted Democrat simply to throw a wrench in the works. I didn't do it because I thought the Democrats could do any better of a job than the Republicans. In fact, if you will look at the rhetoric the weeks leading up to the elections it was all about the Democrats saying how bad the Republicans war.

That's fine, and is something that apparently most of us agree on.

But to offer a solution, where is that? To offer a new insight over that which has been offerred? The Democrats aren't delivering.

These last 2 years could go along way towards seeing who wins the Presidential elections in 2008. If Bush can respond with more flexibility and cleans up this town, he might be able to reinstate faith in his party. It will be hard now to achieve that with a Democratically-controlled Congress who wants to get it's own pat on the back for turning the whole thing around.

Many people in Washington are going to have a wide scope of agendas and motives. Hopefully the US will be among them.
