Knee Deep
For the last several weeks I have been knee deep on this blog, so I today, an update on some recent music stuff that's been going on.
I've been playing with Lauren Schultz and the Swing Thing again. We are playing every Saturday night at the Y Bar and Grill every Saturday night from now until the end time, it seems like.
Lauren sings jazz tunes, and I'm playing piano. Chris Bennett, the creator of Bopworks drumsticks (which are favorably reviewed in Modern Drummer magazine this month) is on drums, and an assortment of possible upright bassists.
May 4th, the incredible Paul Klemperer will join us at Horseshoe Bay in Marble Falls.
I have also been playing piano and organ for Kate Harrod, once at Triumph Coffee House and another time for a private party. She has also been gracious enough to sing a couple of my own compositions, as well as one my dad wrote, 'Incline Thine Ear To Me'.
I'm also collaborating with Johnny Schex on getting the organ trio up and running.
Last but certainly not least-the night before Easter, St James Community Missionary Baptist Church called, and I ended up playing for their service! It was incredible, it has always been a dream of mine to play for a gospel church, and St James is the largest in Austin.
I went back last Sunday and Ms V publicly thanked me for that. What a wonderful experience.
