In The News

This morning's post was kind of....

In order to continue to provide you, our readership, with the high literary integrity you may have come to expect, or are still hoping that we may still yet someday provide, here are some news briefs for your continued satisfaction with this service.

Please accept these as tokens of our apology, and rest assurred that we will continue to do everything in our ability to maintain strict adherence to our guidelines and your expectations.

In The News:

The Associated Press has reported from Baghdad that Saddam Hussein admitted in court Wednesday that he ordered the trial of 148 Shiites eventually executed in the 1980s, but he insisted that doing so was legal because they were suspected in an assassination attempt against him.

Apparently he thought they had weapons of mass destruction....

A 12-year-old visitor to the Detroit Institute of Arts stuck a wad of gum to a $1.5 million painting, leaving a stain the size of a quarter, officials say.

The boy was part of a school group from Holly that visited the museum on Friday, officials say. They say he took a piece of Wrigley's Extra Polar Ice gum out of his mouth and stuck it on Helen Frankenthaler's "The Bay," an abstract painting from 1963.

We have since also learned that they have carefully removed the gum and every attempt is going to be made to preserve it so the gum can be transferred to the bottom of the desk at the school where the boy attends....

We thank you again, and apologize for any inconvenience this morning's post may have caused.
